World Order Lab Participates in the DfD Lab Lecture 2026
World Order Lab's Senior Analyst Coordinator (Middle East & North Africa Desk) Alwi Akbar and Analyst (Transatlantic Desk) Anna Tasya Nurfitriani participated in the DfD Lab Lecture “Great Power Competition and the Politicization of Energy Trade: Implications for Developing Countries,” held on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
Organized by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies Indonesia, the Lecture featured Prof. Erik Voeten of Georgetown University, who explored how geopolitical competition is reshaping global energy markets and examined the implications of these shifts for developing economies, including Indonesia.
The lecture also examined the evolving role of energy as a strategic instrument of statecraft, highlighting developments ranging from the securitization of critical minerals and clean energy supply chains to the broader implications of industrial policies and geopolitical tensions.
