World Order Lab Participates in the ASEAN for the Peoples Conference 2025: Harnessing Southeast Asia's Greatest Resource
World Order Lab’s Analyst Katherine Viella Irwanto attended the "ASEAN for the Peoples Conference: Harnessing Southeast Asia's Greatest Resource," organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia on October 4-5, 2025.
The conference aims to advance ASEAN's vision of a people-centered community by fostering genuine connections through a civil society-led, ground-up platform. The event further highlighted the need to strengthen ASEAN as a people-centered institution. In the process, the speakers/panelists from across Southeast Asia repeatedly emphasized how crucial it is that the peoples of ASEAN actively play a part. Youth, most ultimately, need to be granted a bigger opportunity to contribute to ASEAN’s direction and activities.
World Order Lab extends its appreciation to the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia and all speakers/panelists for convening this timely conference on building a more people-centered ASEAN. We value initiatives that strengthen civil society participation, youth engagement, and inclusive regional cooperation, while creating greater opportunities for the people of Southeast Asia to contribute meaningfully to ASEAN’s direction, development, and future.
