World Order Lab’s Quarterly Briefings on Regional Trends and Outlooks #1
World Order Lab’s Quarterly Briefings on Regional Trends and Outlooks #1

The international order in 2026 is being shaped by intensifying geopolitical competition, shifting strategic alignments, and growing uncertainty over established security and economic arrangements.

In Southeast Asia, the United States tariff pressures, China's maritime assertiveness, and continuing challenges in Myanmar are testing ASEAN's regional cohesion and strategic autonomy. In East Asia, heightened maritime activity around Taiwan and closer U.S.-Japan security coordination reflect intensifying regional tensions. Meanwhile, conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran has disrupted regional security calculations in the Middle East and North Africa, prompting Gulf states to reassess their security partnerships and the reliability of external powers. Across the transatlantic region, uncertainty surrounding US commitments to European security has intensified debates over NATO burden-sharing and Europe's capacity to defend itself.

World Order Lab's in-house Analysts seek to offer constructive and candid perspectives on the pressing challenges facing each region, emerging opportunities amid ongoing geopolitical shifts, and the future outlook for 2027. The webinar will also explore how these regional developments may shape broader power dynamics, international cooperation, and the future of the international order.
