World Order Lab’s Program Manager & Chair of G-2 Affairs Working Group Geo Arshali participated in the Manila Strategy Forum 2026, held in Manila on September 9 - 10, 2026. The annual forum is the centerpiece of CSIS’s U.S.-Philippines Initiative, which aims to deepen the partnership between the two countries.

Organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Southeast Asia Program, the forum brought together senior officials, policymakers, scholars, and leading strategic and economic thinkers from the Philippines, the United States, and across the region. Following the inaugural forum in 2025, this year’s forum continued to provide a platform for high-level discussions on developments shaping the Indo-Pacific and the future of U.S.-Philippines relations.

The two-day forum featured discussions on the evolving international order, regional alliance networks, resilient energy and infrastructure, the blue economy, tariffs and global trade, international crises, and emerging technologies and industries of the future. Senior Philippine officials also provided keynote and armchair remarks, including Philippine Foreign Secretary Theresa Lazaro, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., and National Security Adviser Eduardo Oban Jr.

What are Geo's key takeaways and observations from the forum?

"An ironclad U.S.-Philippines relationship is not only in the interest of Manila and Washington. With the Philippines sitting at an important strategic position in Southeast Asia, and currently serving as ASEAN Chair in 2026, stronger U.S.-Philippines ties also matter for Southeast Asia more broadly, both economically and from a security perspective." --- Geo Arshali, Program Manager & Chair of G-2 Affairs Working Group
