World Order Lab’s Program Associate Wan Raihana Madihah Wan Ahmad Zakry attended the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability” as a youth observer on October 26-28, 2025.

These Summits consist of the ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN Plus One Summits with its seven Dialogue Partners (Australia, China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States), as well as the ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the East Asia Summit, the ASEAN-United Nations Summit, and the ASEAN-New Zealand Commemorative Summit to celebrate 50 years of dialogue relations. Additionally, Malaysia hosted the 5th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit and the 3rd Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leaders Meeting on the sidelines of these events.

The Opening Ceremony took place on October 26, 2025, attended by all ASEAN Leaders, including the President and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, Guests of the ASEAN Chair, and other invited dignitaries. During the ceremony, the Declaration on the Admission of Timor-Leste into ASEAN was signed, officially welcoming Timor-Leste as the 11th ASEAN Member State.

World Order Lab extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia for the thoughtful invitation. We particularly welcome the historic admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th Member State, and value initiatives that strengthen ASEAN unity, inclusivity, dialogue, and regional cooperation while advancing a more integrated and resilient Southeast Asia.
