Senior Legal Associate
Samuel Darryl Waskita is a Senior Legal Associate at World Order Lab, where he supports legal affairs, assist with institutional governance and regulatory compliance, as well as contribute to the development and implementation of policies that uphold the youth think-tank’s legal and ethical standards.
Darryl is a Master of Laws (Notarial Law) Student at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. He holds Bachelor of Laws (Civil Law) from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya.
Darryl gained practical legal experience through internships at Notary and PPAT offices in South Jakarta and Tangerang Regency. During these internships, he worked on various notarial and land-related matters, including drafting notarial deeds, deeds of establishment for limited liability companies and legal entities, sale and purchase deeds, sale and purchase agreements, deeds of relinquishment of rights, powers of attorney to sell, and mortgage-related instruments. He was also involved in land certificate checks, tax validation, document legalization, and other administrative processes, which allowed him to understand how legal principles are applied in day-to-day professional practice.
Before focusing more closely on notarial practice, he gained experience at the Bogor District Court as an Intern Court Officer. He assisted with legal research, document preparation, court administration, and the execution of court orders, while gaining exposure to both civil and criminal litigation processes. These experiences strengthened his interest in understanding not only how laws are formulated, but also how they operate in practice and affect individuals, businesses, and institutions.
Darryl's research interests include civil law, criminal law, agrarian law, corporate law, humanitarian law, artificial intelligence, Indonesian politics, and international politics. He is particularly interested in the relationship between legal frameworks and broader political, economic, and technological developments, including corporate governance, land and property regulation, emerging technologies, and regional affairs in Southeast Asia. Although his primary academic foundation is in Indonesian law and notarial practice, he is also interested in expanding his understanding of international law and international relations.
Beyond his academic and professional experiences, Darryl has been actively involved in student organizations, particularly through the Ikatan Mahasiswa Magister Kenotariatan Universitas Indonesia (IMMK UI). He currently serves as the Deputy Head of the Education and Research Division, contributing to the development and implementation of educational and research-oriented initiatives. Previously, he served as Project Officer for the “Notaris Masa Kini” initiative, leading a digital legal education program that achieved a 97% increase in followers and reached a peak of 52,000 monthly impressions. One of its legal articles, on notaries as banking partners, received more than 22,000 views and 560 saves.
Looking ahead, Darryl aspires to build a career as a Notary while continuing to develop his expertise in corporate, civil, and agrarian law. He hopes to combine his practical experience in notarial work with a broader understanding of legal, political, and international developments, particularly those affecting Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Outside his academic and professional pursuits, Darryl enjoys exploring topics related to law, politics, and international affairs, spending time with close friends, and discovering new interests.
