Nur Farahiyah Abdul Rahman
Deputy Chair of Climate Action Working Group & Brunei Liaison Officer
Nur Farahiyah Abdul Rahman is Deputy Chair of Climate Action Working Group at World Order Lab. She is a sustainability professional with an interdisciplinary background spanning biotechnology, business analytics, environmental engineering, and youth engagement.
Farah holds a Master of Science in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, and Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology from School of Biosciences, Taylor's University in Malaysia. Her academic journey has shaped her interest in understanding environmental challenges through both scientific and applied perspectives, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, natural resources, and climate action.
She is an alumna of the YSEALI Academic Fellowship Fall (2025) at the East-West Center under the Natural Resources theme, and also an alumna of the Empowering Youth Across ASEAN (eYAA) Cohort 5 (2025), where she advocated for environmental education and awareness and further developed her experience in youth-led regional engagement.
She previously served as Research Coordinator at Catalyst of Change (CoC) ASEAN, where she focused on circular economy and waste management, and as Assistant Head of Business Development at The Young SEAkers (TYS) Brunei. These experiences have allowed her to work across multidisciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders on issues connecting sustainability, communities, and youth empowerment.
Farah's research interests include Southeast Asian energy security, environmental sustainability, circular economy, youth engagement, as well as the intersection of sustainability and business. She is particularly interested in how young people can contribute to climate action through research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and meaningful participation in decision-making.
Outside of her professional work, Farah enjoys reading and learning about topics beyond her immediate field of work. She also keeps a journal as a space for reflection, often using writing to process experiences, capture ideas, and reflect on personal growth. She values these quieter practices as a way to remain curious, intentional, and open to new perspectives.
