Anna Asim
Communications Associate (Internal Affairs)
Anna Asim is Communications Associate (Internal Affairs) at World Order Lab. Based in Pakistan and working remotely across the United States and United Arab Emirates time zones, she has spent the past years building a communications and PR practice that spans media relations, stakeholder relations, content strategy, and client account support.
Anna holds Bachelor of Science in Communication and Media Studies from the Department of Communication and Media Studies, Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi in Pakistan. She was ranked in the top 1% of her cohort. The academic training in communication theory and media studies gave her the words and analytical framework she now applies daily to real-world campaigns.
Anna's research interest lies in radical transparency, the idea that institutions should operate with deliberately open, verifiable, and accessible information flows rather than controlled disclosure. She is also drawn to how radical transparency intersects with right-to-information (RTI) frameworks, and public accountability, especially in the Global South where access to public records remains contested. Her independent data journalism work in 2025 reflects this commitment. She produced three original data-driven pieces, including an RTI-based sanitation investigation that required public-records research, narrative writing. She sees radical transparency not just as a journalistic value but as a communication strategy that can rebuild institutional trust and empower stakeholders.
Anna's portfolio also includes the PARATA Campaign through the Media Diversity Institute's Campaign Academy, where she was selected as the sole Global South participant for a four-day cross-cultural media module and designed a Zero Budget campaign strategy and messaging frameworks. As the founder of Tawana Pakistan, a pilot food security digital advocacy initiative, she presented the project as a case study on communications as a green skill at NPU, Oxford University's Biology Department. These experiences have taught her how to translate complex policy and sustainability issues into narratives that shift audiences and institutions in their individual capacities.
Leadership has been a constant thread throughout my work. Anna has served as a Student Ambassador for Nature Positive Universities, a Student Speaker for the Oxford University x NPU workshop “Advocacy, Green Skills & Jobs,” an IOY Ambassador for the International Youth Council, and PR Lead for the Media Wing of PMYDC's FJWU chapter. She also volunteer for Aurat March Islamabad, served as a panelist on Climate Change Mitigation with SSDO, participated as a special undergraduate participant in the 7th MCAP Doctoral Spring School, and represented FJWU at the Embassy of the Netherlands to Pakistan during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. These roles have sharpened her ability to communicate across cultural, institutional, and political boundaries.
Outside of work, Anna is drawn to the quieter side of communication, reading literature, fantasy and historical fiction, exploring music, as well as how radio can be used for public-interest storytelling, a passion that began during her time producing and hosting at FM 96.6 in Pakistan. She also enjoys drives, the sense of being on the road and watching scenes move so quickly brings a certain calmness to her thoughts.
Looking ahead, she aspire to work at the intersection of strategic communications and ideally in a role that lets her help organizations adopt radical transparency as both an ethical commitment and a practical strategy.
